Urban energy systems at building cluster level incorporating renewable-energy-source envelope solutions

The EnergyMatching H2020 project has recently published an article at the Applied Energy Journal. The paper reviews aspects of  urban energy systems at the cluster level that incorporate building integrated RES solutions. The factors reviewd included  RES envelope solutions, solar energy potential, density of buildings, energy demand, integrated cluster-scale energy systems and energy hub. The examined categories of RES envelope solutions are (i) the solar power, (ii) the solar thermal and (iii) the energy-efficient ones, out of which solar energy is the most prevalent RES.Based on the findings of the review, the project put forward a matrix of recommendations for cluster-level energy system simulations aiming to maximize the direct and indirect benefits of RES envelope solutions.

EnergyMatching at the EUPVSEC

EURAC will represent the project at the 35th EU PVSEC to be held in Brussel on 24 - 28 September. The presentation titled  "Open Source Tool for a Better Design of BIPV+ Battery System: An Applied Example" provides results from case study examined with an innovative open source tool for designing cost effective BIPV+ battery systems. The aim is to bring awareness of the economic profitability and visual impact of a BIPV system to the designer in the early stage of the architectural design.
